Capturing/exposing the natural qualities of clay taken straight from the ground, the colours, textures and impurities caught in the material. Referencing/connecting with the pre-industrialised mrickmakers, where they used the local clay without any processing. Stamping the clay gives a nod to current industrial practices. Juxtaposing different colours with each other punctuated with high temperature wood fired pieces. The work contains no glazes. All colours and surfaces arrive from the clay itself and the ash from the wood firing. Clays sourced from ancient Lincolnshire clay pits, South London clay seams, SW France & Northern Spain.
