Clare Haward: Oil painting workshop - Still Life: Objects and the Interior

Join Clare Haward this September as she takes over the gallery for a series of drawing, painting and collage workshops. The classes will be small and attentive, with a maximum of 8 students per session, set amongst the gallery interior and artworks. Easels and small work tables will be provided, or participants are welcome to bring their own easels. Each session will end with a cup of tea and a review of the work during class.

Intermediate/Advanced

With a selection of objects, fabrics and mirrors, participants will be encouraged to explore compositions that take in the space, depth and light around the still life set-up. Clare will introduce exercises that encourage you to explore your visual language and find ways to translate what you see into paint. We will combine close observation with imaginative invention. We will consider drawing, colour, composition, light and use of materials. You can expect practical demonstrations, one-to-one tuition and group discussions.
