Clare Haward: Collage workshop

Join Clare Haward this September as she takes over the gallery for a series of drawing, painting and collage workshops. The classes will be small and attentive, with a maximum of 8 students per session, set amongst the gallery interior and artworks. Easels and small work tables will be provided, or participants are welcome to bring their own easels. Each session will end with a cup of tea and a review of the work during class.

This practical collage workshop combines Josef Albers colour theory with close study of old master and modernist paintings to create contemporary collage. Participants will make studies of selected paintings, giving consideration to colour relationships, composition, shape, form and pattern. Students will experiment with cutting and tearing painted papers, magazines and coloured paper to build imaginative and original compositions.
